Signed and Dated, March 11, 2007, part 2
It was Moises all along! Since he put the first (found on January 14) turkey petroglyph up unaccompanied by his signature, Moises seems to have felt that the image could stand alone as his mark. How come? Was he a member of the turkey clan, widespread among New Mexican Pueblos? A satisfying solution, but for the inconvenient fact that his hometown--Mora, New Mexico, northeast of Santa Fe--is a Hispanic village. Did it remind him of his favorite turkey tamales?
A sad note: Lucy checked New Mexico demographic data online and found that
"Moises Martinez, famous turkey artist, of Mora, New Mexico died on
3/8/29 at the age of 26".
